Lesson learnt: stray cats/kittens come on heat waaaaay earlier than ordinary domestic cats.
They didn't even make lots of noise like wot I would expect a girl kitty on heat to do. It was a learning curve that has not been repeated.
I hear you. Years back one of our cats (taken in off the streets) was pregnant at less than six months old. Definitely a baby having babies. Except we ensured she didn't.
