The first Xmas controversy has occurred.
Met mother for breakfast at cafe.
I never go to anywhere I like with her because she is invariably rude unless she has found the place herself and is showing it to us.
The owner of the place I used to go to in Cleveland once came out to ask me to speak to my mother about her behaviour to the waitresses. she'd made them cry last time she was there when there was a mistake on her order.
She was in one of her moods and being disparaging of her grand children.
Cafe said couldn't swap spinach for tomato as garnish. Would have to buy as side.
Step father forgot to get senior discount at time and they said couldn't do after fact.
Mother couldn't let go being denied her garnish of choice and was loudly declaring would complain to franchise.
Mother than decided her coffee was served cold.
Mother then was rude to waitress bring food.
Loudly complained she had not been given gluten free bread and declared "that's disgusting! Disgusting!" And to take it away.
I haven't had much sleep and don't cope with her behaviour in cafes at best of times. So I left.
Have retreated home, like the coward I am, but stopped and gave my sister the headsup first.
The thing is ... The complaints were fair enough. There is no reason they shouldn't be able to swap some spinach for a tomato, and I think they should have given the senior discount afterwards.
I wonder if she decided to leave and made a scene demanding her money back?
I wonder if she ended up being asked to leave?
They are both possibilities.
Or it may have just fizzled out into weeping.
It's too early to start drinking isn't it?

Stressed ...
The frogs are trying to kill themselves again.
Have rescued teenage amphibians two nights in a row.
Was the Scream I heard a moment before that of the frog I fished from the toilet not ten minutes ago?
Nearly a nasty accident there.
I was in a terrible rush at the time and had to purse my cheeks savagely and flail about for something to catch it with. It was an Olympian of frogs.
Lept about all over the place.
Fending cats off with one hand.
Trying to get the frog to jump into a bag.
Welding my knees together and chanting "I am the Master of my own sphincter" to myself.

Booggled ...
I've managed to kill a scooter in under a year.
Not under warranty cause I missed a service, sigh.
(When I'd hurt my back, but turned out to be a kidney cyst, or a combination of the two and was having difficulties moving about in the morning. Got to and from work and that was about it. Then the cat was sick.)
One thing at a time though, right?
Tomorrow go explain to Centrelink that I don't owe them $700 from September 2010.
Then pop over to the scooter place to see how much an engine rebuild will cost.
Then decide if there is a chance in heck of getting something sorted before mother arrives so that hopefully she never finds out about it.
I have ten days.
Maybe I can hire a scooter that looks exactly like mine?
And I can't drink cause I started methotrexate today, damnit! Cheezels just aren't the same.

Concept - reducing clutter ...
... funnily enough this has been something I have been trying the last few years.
I reasoned, that if everything had a place, it would be easier to put them in their place. I have gotten rid of more books then I ever conceived possible.
Lately, i have boxed up all my bric-a-brac with the intent of what is not missed can be disposed of.
Oddly enough, i find this has made me even more messy.
As if the possesions are the barrier that holds my mess in check.
I think I need a certain kind of clutter around me to make me feel like I am present and securely occupying my space, but it is only a theory so far, as i haven't managed to get to a vacant enough state to be able to start from scratch.
I was in the mind set last night to just throw everything out and start again. It is still tickling at my mind as an interesting idea. What would it be like to start again. What would the new posessions I chose show me to be, uncluttered by things given by others to muddy the view. All a bit nacasistic says my inner self.
When boxing bric-a-brac it turned out to be mostly stuff given to me. Probably most of what I own has been given or inherited or gifted as presents at obligatory occasions when someone has to give you something, not nessecarily because it solely spoke to them as something I just had to have, so they bought it without a need to buy something
I am getting convoluted and squiggly.
My head is like this on an ordinary day.
I don't even want to revisit it on a bad day.
They happen on their own and don't need to be reaffirmed in a light hearted blog.
Stuff isnt important anyway.
Oh look, a kitty!
Even my cat seems to think this is a silly post!

Argh
... and of course the blood tests say there is nothing wrong with me, regardless of the fact my hands tremour with tiredness and i feel like i am on the verge of passing out half the time, bah!
I am going to drink some wine and ruminate on the injustices of science!
(I'm maybe a little bit anemica, but nothing much and doc betrayed surprise that my cholesteral was fine - ha!)

One out, one under and one on
Who knew I'd grow up to be a cat couch?
Off to get some blood tests tomorrow. Have been feeling very very tired for months now. When I'm not at work, I'm pretty much just in bed. Of course, these will probably all be fine like last time and the will be no reason for the blah way I am feeling. My lovely doctor will think I am a mad hyperchondriac and suggest I go for a run or something.
At least last time there was a bit of a thing. I had a cyst on my kidney, but laying on by bad side for so long for the ultrasound seemed to resolve things and the next day (after two or three weeks of discomfort) I felt fine.
Its like when you take your vehicle to the mechanic and tell him you are having trouble getting it started and it works first go. Maybe I should send that in to Denise Drysdale for her grind your gears segment? Blood tests that say you are fine when you feel bad.

Friday night
Tried not to be early.
Drifted in about 7.30 ish.
By time first support "Drawn by Bees" played there were some where between 50 to 80 people there, maybe?
They were lovely and if I wasn't broke I'd have bought their cd too, though there was just a little too much whistling in a row for me. The harmonies were lovely and the main singers hair very straight and yet somehow also sort of fluffy.
Mr Noga was delightful as ever (and funny and gorgeous and wonderful) and I wish he'd stop walking past me unexpectedly. I nearly fell over this time. I probably looked like I was staggering drunk or something and I was unfairly sober. I only had two drinks at the start of the evening and they weren't particularly alcoholic. The venue was selling drink tokens. 3 for $10!!!! which is just enough tokens for a glass of wine or a corona - damnit. And if you want to buy just one token, they charged $4. All I ask is just a slight forewarning so I can try and suck some of my stomach in. Is that too much to ask?
By the time Mr Perkins came on the crowd had built to maybe 200ish maybe a bit more.
I was completely and utterly convinced Mr Perkins would only have a couple of the band with him and was beside myself with delight to see they were all there. sigh Joel Silbersher gibber gibber gibber and I may be just a bit in love with Mr Owens now too. Is there a limit to the number of musicians one is allowed to be devoted too? Am I becoming just a little indiscriminate?
People were starting to drift away about half way through their set. Lots of mature aged fans there and some large hairy tattooed individuals who were hanging out for Beast of Bourbon songs. Lady with big blonde hair and white linen trousers dancing in airy arm sinuous waves. Husband in fifties dragging shy wife up front of the band to dance, who would only stand behind the speakers where she wasn't so visible. Men dancing! In manly ways. Other men not the clapping or dancing type standing at the back of the room with intermitant trips to the bar. Tried to talk the security guard into letting them go upstairs, which was chained off. They didn't seem to want to stand near the other people
attending. Some very odd men who would just wander about, stand somewhere for a bit,
and than wander about again? Woman discretely invades stage and dance about next to Mr Perkins. Joel Silbersher has the cutist pout when he is playing. Thought I heard some snap and crackle towards the end from a piece of equipment that I couldn't actually see, but perhaps I imagined it. Think crowd numbers were down to the 150ish mark by end of evening. However, that is their loss. It was great night and Mr Perkins was very funny. I hope someone posts footage of his interpretive airy arm waving dancing. Or at least the buttock grab.
The establishment gave away two tickets to everybody there for Jeff Martin next week.

Crumpled sheets
Am loving Laura Marlings "All my rage".
Caught it on rage the other night.
Might have to go buy her album.
Have been making my old cat come in of a night, a'cause the rain is so heavy. He screams like a banshee when he sees the other cats, but is settling on the bed without too much trauma, apart from low level growls which last till he falls asleep. He stayed in for most of today. Cuddled up over my arm like he used to, but more bad tempered about it when I move. Saber rattling and a lite bite. He never bites down, just puts his teeth against ones skin.
The noise so loud.
The action so quick.
Makes ya jump unless you know he never breaks skin.
Sometimes even when you do know.
Was going to spring clean and sort stuff in preparation of chucking some out, but it has rained all day, so I stayed in bed and slept instead. It's snuggling in bed kind of weather.
I dyed my Guiness green for St Patricks day.

stopping by
Have been sleeping in till 8:30 or 9 ish of late, which leads to some confusion when my mobile phone rings because I initially fumble blearily to hit the snooze button on the alarm only to be faced with prospective employers wanting to make appointments.
Have been playing repetitive clicking computer games and knitting to pass the time, which I wish would pass faster between payment days, as all the money is spent within a couple of hours on bills and food and the rest is twiddling my fingers for a fortnight contemplating my boredom.
Only boring people are bored.
Fair enough - I have never claimed to be otherwise.
There are lots of things I could do, but ... phfft.
Probably I should try and stimpulate the little grey cells a little more. Perhaps I should try and re-write "The Slant" (a song by Glenn Richards) to be about a duck.
Or something.
oh well. Interview at midday today. Pre-testing for another tomorrow.
Sort of interested in the one tomorrow. Is typing up court transcripts from recordings. Potentially interesting and possibly even horrific on occasions. Make one grateful for what one has.
The cats are still delighted by my daily company, as I am with theirs. I am less delighted with daytime television and my cheap crappy dvd player which has decided to cease working. Which is a pity cause it is also all I have to play cds on and have just re-found the Decemberists Crane Wife album which I have been looking for off and on for the past six months. I knew it was here somewhere.
I swear ... next regular paid work I get, I am getting a skip and ruthlessly decluttering myself. I want open floor space and cupboards, damnit! and one of those kitty play towers covered in carpet, and some mirrors around the place to remind me what I look like so that I will exercise a bit. One tiny little medicine cabinet mirror that I can only see into if I stand on the stairs does not provide sufficient motivation.
And the books - I can feel another purge on the way.

Sunday morning at work
Another awesome post by Black Hockey Jesus. What must it be like to be so consistantly awesome? What would it be like to have a head and a heart that thinks stuff like this? My head don't think nothink. I exist in static until somebody asks me to do something.
This is the thing about being an easy going person - one just doesn't care about stuff. Hard to blaze a trail when you have nothing you feel strongly about. I am a moon without a planet and a sun to circle.
Sometimes its so empty in here that a word or the end of a sentence will echo for a while afterwards. Moonwalk around my brain at a gentle bounce. Fecking vandals get everywhere though. There are large sections with rude words sprayed in flurescent paint. And what is a cigarette butt doing here? Arsing things get everywhere. Some people are soo inconsiderate. And whats this? Hell, would it kill to use the rubbish bin? It's not bush week you know!

Eldest reckons 18mth said my name when looking at the photos on the fridge, but when asked to do it before witnesses 18mth smiles wickedly and says nothing.
She does similar thing to 13yr niece. 13yr niece holds out arms to 18mth. 18mth heads towards her and then ... veers off at the last moment laughing.
I swear it sounds like mwahhahahaha
15yr niece gloating that she guessed Riva Song was daughter of Amy pond and I didn't. Chanting "I was right I was right" over and over again.
This will be my third alcohol free night in a row. One gets into the habit of having a glass of wine everynight and then after awhile it is more than a glass of wine a night. So this is alcohol free week with the potential of being alcohol free fortnight and maybe even alcohol free month, just to prove I can do it.
I quit coffee now and then for similar reasons.
Doesn't work with hot chips though.

Easter Saturday
Domestic Friday interrupted with call from eldest to invite to Chinese dinner saturday night - where each person brings dish - not takeaway.
I do not cook. Occasionally make spag boll or carryout some other offense to cookery perpetuated under the influence. Yeast is not a substitute for flour when trying to make a white sauce.
Much thought was spent on whether I would wimp out with the other option provided that I did not have to bring anything - sisters wise to my lack of ability and possibly fearful of cat contamination.
Wracked my brain and decided to try dim sum - which looks easy - though I did not use a recipe - cause I never do. Have spent nearly $100 today buying mixing bowls and jars and stuff and my brother-in-law has just been roused on for adding salt to the prawn crackers - lol.

oh really? (more whinging sorry - recommend skipping)
So I am continuing to get into trouble from my boss for something that it turns out I actually didn't do wrong in the first place?
I am so not staying here for this.
Apparently I only have to give one weeks notice because I am still on the six months probation.
Mind you, I want to tidy up first.
Get all my filing done and my desk cleaned up first for the next person.
I don't like to leave things a mess.
If I am very frugle for the next fortnight I might even be able to make it through if Centrelink decide I need to wait the eight week period before being eligible for Newstart Allowance again because I resigned from a job. It would be nice to get something else before then, but I can't count on that because it is a small town and there is a bit of a dry spell between jobs here generally.
I know it is sensible to just look for other work before leaving, and I am, but have never had the emotional constitution to continue in unhappy stressful situations. I just cry. Which is embarrassing. Also stress is bad for my arthritis and I don't want another flare-up. It's better to have no money and be hungry than to be in severe pain and unable to dress myself properly, ey? :) Proper flare-ups seem to last for eight months to a year. At least the two I've had so far in the last seventeen years did.

Time?
There is none.
I have realised why I was grumpy over the weekend. My backbrain remembered I was missing Glenn Richard's performance / musical extravaganza / gig.
The delightful young Mr Kelly and awesome Mr Liddiard are this weekend.
I shall be all snarls and sneers, cause I sensibly decided not to go.
I hate senisble.
Senisble can kiss my arse.
And sure, he was wearing a nice shirt, but what shirt, ey?
Is it new?
Is it brown?
As a description 'a nice shirt' sucks.
Also I want a picture of the pointy shoes.
If there is time (hahahahahaha she laughed scornfully at herself) I shall troll the net for reviews and pictures.

Post schmost
The book I ordered hasn't arrived - sad face - I think it will not arrive at all - tracking says it was posted before the ones I ordered for my niece and hers have arrived already - it is very sad.
I hate waiting.
Brother-in-law cooking pancakes for the family today.
Cats being smoochy.
Rainbow lorikeets frolicing in my sisters gum tree.
The sun burns already and it is only 8:19 am.
The air conditioner is purring.
The ceiling fan whorling.
I feel a bit sick cause I drank excessivelyish last night.
It is my usual coping method for parental visits.
Terrible dreams where I went out drinking with CEO of a company I dreamed I worked for after some kind of team meating to discuss safety procedures and dream me arriving at dream work the next day worried I drank too much the night before, but not remembering anything else embarrassing to dream self, only to be told that actually dream me had vomted in front of CEO and management twice during the course of the evening.
Fuck I need coffee

Blather blather blah
I intended to spring clean over the break and garden - but rain, presence of parent and humidity have conspired against my fragile intentions and willowly will. Thus my current piggy profile pic is entirely appropriate.
Lacklustre and limp I spent all day yesterday playing an interminal Jewelquest. At 7 pm last night I had only reached Chapter Four or five of possible twelve made up of varying twenty to thirty boards each. My cats disapproved and attempted interuption by knocking things off tables and bodily forcing disengagement from the keyboard and (unsuccessful) lap coups.
I cannot try and make it up to them with food treats because one of them is having a vomiting phase (don't know which one) and the others are somewhat disinterested from heat - both hormonal and external. Must get Sookey desexed this year.
I won $26 on the lotto - it's not 31 million, but still a pleasant surprise.
I am forty this year - well, come December round anyway.
Forty is one of those important years.
A spring clean for the body and mind.
I am daunted ... an internal and external habitat due all the same time - gah!
I fear a half-hearted tidyup may be the only thing that happens.
Perhaps you might suggest I create a display/plan of what I want to achieve out of life?
Sadly, my only goals have always been to have no hassles, cats, and lots of books to read.
What do the contented people do when they turn forty?
I don't think my joints would like skydiving.
Also one is always worried one would be tempted to not open the shute.
Far to attracted to edges.
Think I have some lemming in me.
Lacklustre and limp I spent all day yesterday playing an interminal Jewelquest. Yo
Four hours I played Bejewlled Quest.
I thought surely it must end soon?
But no.
And don't call me Shirley.
So last night I stopped myself at 9:30 (instead of the 11:38 of the previous evening) and thought ... hum ... I'll just have a little bit of a read and then ... lo ... it was 12:38.
What is with the 38's?
Still. I didn't even have a glass of wine the other night. Or any snacks.
Perhaps I shall call this 'the bling diet'?

Babysitting
I am very sleepy.
Overhear part of eldest nieces phone conversation.
Giggly mock fight in progress with friend.
One of those "I hate you" "I hate you more" ones.
She ups the anty by telling her friend "I hate your bunny".
