Poor George ...

... has learnt a new trick.  He made sad little whining noises at me until I sat down and gave him a cuddle last night.  He is such a sooky dog.

Sadly the little crown I had to go with the skirt was too small. Am pondering workarounds for next time.

This is the same sad put upon look he does when I tie him up to stuff.

He cheered up when I gave him his treats.

He even wandered over to the neighbours yard on his own and posed prettily for me.

Once the treats were gone, so was he.

Three day doggie bender

George has been out and about for a sustained period again.

My cat Bokkie hasn't been terribly impressed with the attention and doesn't approve of my interactions.  He don't like the doggy smell.

Bloody George

Unfortunately the mohawk didn't actually fit, d'oh

My wish granted ...

... since it appears George has been out all night terrorising the neighbourhood in his blue feather boa, ha ha ha ha

I had to give him a tummy rub
even though he had my cat bailled
up in the stormwater drain

New hobby ...

... i only wish he had come by during daylight hours, so I could take better pictures.

I think feathers suit him.

My new hobby ...

There is a dog living a few streets away who escapes on a regular basis.

He seems to have decided instead of sitting around at home all day he should travel the neighbourhood taunting less free canines, barking at my cats and scaring them and pretending they oppress and beat him up when i am present, and mooching at my next doors neighbours house with the Labrador.

So I decided I should dress him up when he comes over.

Some outfits so far ...

Stalled

Did I put this up already?  I've actually finished since, thou not tested with an attempt at printing.

I must try it soon.

I got a little carried away with the carving out and probably mucked it up.

Saturday

No breakfast for me.  A slow stumble about the house, early hydration then a lame leap to scooter and putter to my sisters to proudly extend my copy of Cryoburn by Lois McMaster Bujold for her reading pleasure.

I have taken the opportunity to watch the first episode of the late session wot Dan Kelly was on.  Very enjoyable though I find Jack Thompson much easier to understand when he puts on an accent.  He doesn't move his lips enough in his normal conversational speaking voice and its a little too slurred for me to understand easily.

I think its because I come from a family of mildly deaf people - lots of loud voices are used - plus we all enunciate a lot due to early "art of speech" lessons (not so much me but my sisters and probably my mother before us).

I am going to make an effort to write something today.  I've done nothing creative for ages.  I feel  dull, like the colour is bleeding out of me.

In progress ...

I have a line from a Decemberist's song running through my head on endless repeat "and I will hang my head, hang my head low" and it's a great song, but I would prefer more of it.

Had the booklet out to sing the darn thing of an evening - trying to remember the words by repetition -but it is not sticking.  Went to play the CD, but then remembered I can't sing along with Colin and saved myself the pain of sounding like a strangled chicken.  That is always so disheartening.

Just popping this here temporarily, to remind myself to check back.  There was something mentioned about an interview upload on the way.

I've realised that it's not so much that I am obsessed with these musicians, I just like finding stuff on the net.  It's a hobby.  I am willing to acknowledge that it is a weird hobby.

Edit:  That damn $69 fare is still there, curses *shakes fist at screen*
(of course the flight to Brisbane is now up to $210 from its previous $199)

Oh My Goodness

So I started going through the various garbage bags of stored clothes and half of them turned out to contain past scarf knitting efforts. Here was I thinking I'd cleared out heaps by shipping off 8 scarves in the last week, sheesh.

I was going to be ruthless and chuck out some of the clothes, but I think I shall hang onto them for a bit longer yet.  I don't think those skirts would even fit around one of my thighs at present.  I don't have as much as I feared.  Most of the bags were filled with the scarves - lol.

More Scarves

Possibly not readily apparent to the casual eye, but this is another scarf :)

Bobbly yarns are cute, but a pain to knit.

Am alive - just watching tennis

I keep forgetting to put my glasses on *ouchie*.  My head hurts and my neck aches. All this television watching - I'm not fit for it   It disagrees with me.  The Hopman Cup has been most enjoyable so far anyway.

The lawnmowing guy knocked on my door yesterday to chat.  He has never done this before.  He apologised regarding his attempt to mow my water logged yard.  He complimented me on my eggplants.

Here I was picturing general disapproval of my gardening efforts.  My neighbour doesn't really like plants and I think the landlord is more an expanse of grass kind of guy too.

The lawnmower guy likes cats.  He has three.  He has a russian blue he is very proud of.  Thinks him very smart.  If the door is left slightly ajar it will open it up the rest of the way itself.  He is into permaculture.

It is nice to think that I have a mower guy who is going to take care around the garden edges.

My grandmother used to try and have a garden bed down the sunny side of her house.  My Uncle Sidney used to just run over it with the tractor mower.

Tis the season ...

Management have decided to be playful for the Christmas Season and issued a challenge to see which office can come up with the best decorations using a sustainability theme or an environmentally friendly way. The cynic within me sees this as an opportunity to save money on decorations and inspire self-inflicted team building exercises. The child in me is just delighted with the idea of messing about with cutting up paper and gluing shit to stuff. I am buying me some glitter on the weekend - w00t!

Have googled a few ideas and some of them are a little more complicated than I can deal with because I am a clutz and have never been good with my hands, not to mention the small issue of lack of patience (jigsaw puzzles drive me insane and I frequently end up trying to hammer pieces into places they refuse to go).

I think I might be able to do this one and maybe this and potentially (if some kind of character changing miracle occurs) I might try and do this.

There are some other ones that are much simpler, but I don't have a link for them.

Note to Self

This is more a note to self :)
Simon has been blogging about how his friend Scott wishes he knew more about this musician and am going to play at googling this today. Not that my search skills are going to be anything compared to Simon's who is much more computer literate than myself or probably Scott's though I don't know for sure as I have no idea who Scott is.

C. C. La Due.
  • He was in Brisbane at one stage (and might still be).
  • He made a CD called Magical Risk.
  • The CD is excellent.

Content Warning: probably not at all interesting

There was an article in the Seniors Newspaper about people knitting little beanies for babies for the hospital and that if anybody was interested in donating to call/email a lady for patterns. So another lady at the office and myself are going to have a bash at it. Patterns are in the mail.

A year or two ago I read an article asking for volunteers to learn to smock. It was a small group of people who made and donate to the local hospital little dresses for still-born babies to be buried in. Darn near cried reading the stoopid article, but I can't sow.

Probably the beanie knitting isn't going to work out either, but what the heck, right?

Update

I fear to check my bank balance. I am supposed to be saving. I bought a spade and a hoe and some plants and have been digging inbetwixt resting and generally making a mess. Lots of fun :)

Note to self: buy garbage bags for all the weeds and dug up grass.

I have been given a bicycle but I've not really ridden it yet.

I planned to ride it home after my sister dropped me off to pick it up, but she looked doubtfully at me when I imparted my plan to her and instead offerred to ride it back for me, unless it had easy release wheels, which it did, so we loaded it into the boot instead along with my sadly punctured bravado.

I shall be brave. I shall ride it every night this week to the shops and back until I get used to the cross bar and the casual humiliation of having to hop on one leg until the bike is lent over enough for me to get off, since I can't swing my leg over the damn cross bar and there is a basket on the back preventing me from going from that direction.
