Harkening back to olden days when I could scarf bacon and/or eggs benedict with impunity, I set myself down with the tasty salty snack and absentmindedly burnt toast, fried in a pan because I threw out the toaster in a fit of disgust in a culling cleaning rage months back and not replaced it, to listen to my beloved band Augie March's first released single of new album.
Eggs Benedict no long agrees with me and I can only eat if I am heading straight home from the cafe after to baptise the bowl in enthusiastic effluence (on my more affluent days when I go out for breakfast wot with coffee or tea costs $25 or more *shakes fist at the often too tempting suggestion of a hash brown*).
I've not felt the same about bacon since the bout of food poisoning, which it well and truly won, leaving me passed out and waking all warm and relaxed in a pool of my own vomit (it took ages to wash it all the little bacon bits out of my hair).
Augie however are still a blessing to my ears and brain. I find myself murmurring little inanities as I listen like they are my favourite cat who has just been particularly pleasing and winsome and cute ... aren't you a gorgegous little boy ... whose a clever boy ... aren't ya just a cute squiggy little pooky ... i love you, yes I do, yes I do ... etc, and swing my feet and hum happily like I do when I am eating something particularly nice.
My toes tingle in anticipation for February when the album is released and the back of my neck tightens as I contemplate how there is no way in heck I can get to the first performance, whilst I still speculate on maybe possibly if I eat peanut butter and vegamite for the next two months ... maybe? .... but toast gives me indigestion nowadays and I am already regretting breakfast, though I made cats very happy with tidbits of bacon and they are grooming themseves in a pleased fashion and looking approvingly at me from their lofty perches atop bookshelves which is currently a much favored and competed position since a little rain and the heat have produced a small flea situation until Friday payday when I can purchase the solution to my itchy ankles, since the bookcase won't hold me.
Expressing my delight would be a great deal easier if I didn't have to chicken peck this out one fingered on my tablet. An exercise in exquisite frustration for a typist. It interferes with my flow.
I go now to listen to the song again.

It kind of seems like masturbation ...
... but I really like the food I cook.
I don't cook much, and what I do cook nearly always has waaaay too much chilli in it.
Lady at work has more habaneros (not the faintest how to spell, sorry) and was giving them away. Am trying to use them up. They are hot enough that it is like when you take a spoonful of soup that is too hot from the stove, but breathing in more air to cool it DOES NOT WORK.
Still awesomely tasty even if the top of my mouth feels like it may be peeling.

Post coi backspace backspace backspace gig
(it still makes me think of a horse and cart more than it does music)
It was like that line from shakespeare.
Something along the lines of and all englishmen abed will think themselves accursed they were not here.
That is how any Augie March fan would feel if they knew what they had missed out on.
It was great.
I sighed a lot
big heartfelt happy sighs
you know how in the shower everything sounds perfect? It was like the room was a giant shower. The best eva.

in celebration for his little sister Sally's birthday and her not being able to afford to come to Brisbane and therefore going to Port Douglas Instead - Bottle Baby
Torpor and Spleen
Turn on you (which he said was his favourite from the album - which is lovely for me cause it means he played it and it is one of the songs from this album that I do tend to hit repeat on, along with the new sunrise [the name will probably come to me as I am drifting off to sleep on the plane this afternoon] and long pigs)

Encore: The night is a Blackbird
Gorgeous old building with battery powered fake candles scattered about, which flickered realisticly - ish. On approach could not believe I had the right building. Then saw little signs. Followed the arrows. Instructions to walk through the gardens and up the stairs.
They turned the light out nearly ten minutes before Mike Noga came on. I tried to just sit quietly but couldn't take it and got my mobile phone out to light my book, so I can't say whether it was his arse my face was inches away from or ... you have no idea how much I wish I hadn't been looking down at my book as he brushed past my chair on the way to the stage.
A rather impressive spill of wine by one of the leather coated trio in front of me. Battled the urge to rush to the bathroom for paper towels to clean up the potential slip and trip. Have spent too long in a Safety Department.
Have been thinking my libido was dead till the ever so delightful Mr Luscombe started playing his guitar. By golly. Fuckin' gee wizz he ain't half awesome. {8:12 am next day reads back wot wrote and smacks wrist for such effuscive and blatant sexual objectification - just because some one is pretty and talented does not mean I am allowed to leer at them, I tell myself - bad sammy - go write out lines}
Kept chanting to myself to remind myself "don't be the last one clapping" - cause one can get a bit carried away sometimes, ey?
Possibly we could have done without the discussion of human feces as inbetween song chit-chat, but actually they can do no wrong and therefore, obviously, the human feces was absolutely essential and there should be more of it.
I hate to say it, but it was well worth missing Doctor Who for.
{8:12 am next day: free internet at hotel - watched it on iview - it was awesome too}

Yo
Though I shall no doubt suffer abuse for the lack of presents by sundry nieces and nephew it will be worth it as it was a nice day in Melbourne yesterday and I had a lovely time consisting of an unfortunately early waking rewarded with a lazy three hours of hotel instant coffee drinking, channel flicking and reading of delightful book for young readers which I've not reread in over ten years and therefore didn't actually remember what it was about so I got to read a book I loved again like as new - what could be better? - for three ish hours whilst I waited for my friend to wake from her sleeping beauty like slumber, before strolling to the victoria markets and being much tempted by gloves with bows on them as a present for one niece, but then facing the facts that a) no way could I afford to spend $57 dollars on something she just won't get to wear; and b) I would be lynched by the other children if I only gave one of them a present and I wasn't going to get to go shopping for anything the others would like - after which I supped of eggs benedict and tea WHICH ONLY COST NINE DOLLARS!!!! whereas the same in Townsville would cost me (and has cost me) nearly $25 - god I love Melbourne sometimes (even though the streets are creepily wide and tree'ed - its unnatural) after which I got to laze about with more coffee/tea books and channel flicking whilst friend recovered from her bum knee playing up - and then we trammed to the Union Hotel on Brunswick Street for the BlackEyed Susans with other friends (who were also at breakfast, but I got distracted and didn't mention it before - they look fabulous - time has only improved their marvelousness) and also got to say Hi to another delightful person at the venue and discuss how great Sandra (blog link off to the side) and didn't get drunk and didn't vomit and I've not missed my plane - w00t!
all in all, a successful trip
but short
very short
I would have liked to go shopping and could have gone out on my own, only I have no sense of direction, suck at reading maps, and in fact didn't possess one - so discretion being the better part of valour??? that makes no sense, I sat about instead.
Was reading one of the wizard books by Diane Duane "The book of night with moon".

Last Day
reluctant to get out of bed this morning
but the cats fixed that
by running around like rum fuelled hoons
crashing and banging about the place
and getting into fights
drag racing eachother down the length of the living room
so I arrived at work earlytomorrow I intend to sleep in until at least ten
or if i can't sleep I shall read
either way
in bed till ten
one can get depressed when one is unemployed
i feel it behoves me to set myself some achieveable goals
to keep my spirits up
lol
P.S. Civil Civic have released another couple of songs and I have it on good authority that Overdrive is great - I am hoping to find a computer with sound (or get mine working) tomorrow to get a listen to it myself :)
P.P.S. Exploding Dog is just so awesome

zooming around like an airplane
The package was waiting for me when I got home Friday and I was so excited I didn't think to take a photo before opening it, but anyway here is an awesome t-shirt Sandra has given me extra along with my purchases (note the territorial pronoun) in their funky map wrapping paper.
Here are my purchases unwrapped. Do you have any idea the effect it has on a hoarder/collector type person to own print one in a series of only ten? by jove, I believe I may have chortled.
Blossom-cat was also very pleased with the package and guarded the box from all envious latecomers.
And here is me in the excellent t-shirt, which I am wearing right this very moment on my way to Saturday breakfast, which I have not been able to indulge in for ages.
After which I am in search of some picture hooks to hang my mirrors :)

A new day ...
... and I am feeling strangely positive this morning, even though sleep still weights my extremities.
There were emails from friends waiting to be read when I logged on and whilst reading them I am yet again delighted at how delightful my friends are.
So I am sitting here smiling at my monitor whilst construction work reverberates through the wall of reception and clouds dim the morning glare and the large coffee consumed slowly permeates my being and really, is there a better way to start the day?
I am content.

Caitlyn Rose
I can't help but feel I look a bit worried here.
Possibly my latest niece Caitlyn had just made a suspicious noise deep down in her innards?
Possibly I was experiencing a sudden realisation that a three month old baby isn't big enough to hide behind when somebody is sneakily taking your photo.

Leaps about excitedly - i have money i have money - she sings.
I can afford to buy my brother-in-law a present for his birthday today. It is a great relief. They have been very good to me over the last couple of months.
I can buy lunch that contains greenery. I have had lettuce cravings.
I am wearing my broken shoes today, because I was soaked riding home yesterday. The right shoe has cracked between the heel and the rest of the sole. From kick-starting the scooter.
I am aware these are very factual 'I ate, I went to the toilet, I slept' kind of blogs. There is nothing in my head. Work consists of answering the telephone and putting people through to other people and opening and distributing the mail. Nothing to stimulate anybody. Certainly not me. I need a handsome blogger or musician to semi-cyber-stalk to pep me up.

w00t 2 !!!!!
... and I arrive at work today to an email to say I will be receiving pay for the three days work in the previous salary cycle in the next two days - yayayayayaya - I shall have money Friday or Monday which means I don't have to be quite so frugal with my remaining 35 dollars which was going to have to buy a bag of dry cat food $12, a bag of kitty litter, $12.00 and two loafs of bread to get me through the next week $6.00 on vegemite sandwiches.
I am a happy cookie :)

W00T!!!!!
Got my new lease in the mail and they haven't put the rent up :) First time that has happened since I've been here.
Probably it is a mistake.
Probably when I go in to sign it they realise and manually alter it.
But!
More importantly ... no mention of an inspection.
*zooms about the room like an aeroplane*
Cause though I've talked of it, and made some headway in spots, I haven't actually cleaned the whole flat all at the same time and currently it looks rather like a bomb has hit it.
Celebrated by scootering to work in heavy rain.
P.S. the rather delightful Civil Civic blog that they have released their 5-track. Blog post listed on the right hand side :)

Compliments
Director tidying up a few things before holidays.
Shirt and shorts.
In on day off.
Thanks me for all my hard work.
Says they really want to employ me if a vacancy occurs.
Tells me how great I am.
Noice.
(I always think I am a bit shit - it's always nice when somebody else tells you you are great)

Sunday Summer Afternoon
sleepy-eyed I sit
cats splayed out and scattered like used socks
it is starting to get warm
the ceiling fan pushes air over sweat soiled hair
humid moist air
its like I'm enveloped in my childhood security blanket
or a hug that never goes away
possibly a slightly sweaty hug, but thats okay

Awesome. Just Awesome.
We got the first year strings!
I have been pining for them. The teacher always looks so laid back and calm and happy. Like he has taken drugs and is just waiting for the kids to start so that he can laugh at the audience listening to them. He clicks his fingers louder than the children play. He actually blushed tonight, when one of the little songs came apart half way through.
None of the children cried on stage, though there was one violinist who didn't actually play the whole time she was out there. She did look very pretty posed to bow. There was however a crying girl escorted through the audatorium by her mother. Possibly distressed by her performance? I don't know. They all look the same to me in their little blue and white shirts and plaits.
Queen has never been quite the same for me since hearing 1st year wind play a short mishmash of "We will rock you" and "Another one bites the dust".
The two ladies next to me couldn't hold it together during 1st year strings and collapsed into giggles. My pregnant sister felt the need to leave the room. Sadly no older fathers stiffling curses at their wives for dragging them along. Most parents seemed quite happy to be there.
Shame that, but one can't have everything.
The trumpets and trombones seemed to sound more duck like than earlier in the year. Depressed ducks in need of prozac.
My 13 yr old niece threatened to punch me very very hard if I sang along to Jingle Bell Rock. Luckily it turned out I don't actually know the words. Tortured her by leering at the drum teacher.
She called me a freak and a loser.
I reminded her I have not yet bought her Christmas present and she might want to rethink that one.
All in all, a most satisfactory evening

Good Afternoon
chicken laksa for lunch
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
it is a beautiful day outside
32 degrees
non-humid
a hint of dust in the air
gives a summer haze to the day
i should be in my hammock with a long island iced tea or a blowed-up tire floating in a pool or snuggled up with someone cuddly on a blanket in a park
I am in a terribly cuddly mood today
(though feel I should specify this is not action cuddling - snuggly cuddling I am talking about here - where one snoozes with ones face nuzzled into the join of neck and shoulder)
if some passing godlike being could just turn me into a cat for the day and I would be content

Good Morning
Good Morning my cherubs, she sang out insufferably cheerily, I slept in until 7:30 this morning and feel rather wonderful
Well ... when I say slept in I mean that I woke up at 6 am and then shoved my head under the pillow again until I felt like getting out of bed, which I think is even better than actually sleeping. Awake but sleepy leaves me able to daydream vividly but maintain control and I had lovely snuggly daydreams.
when cats are feeling super affectionate and cuddly, they seem to be able to make their fur softer and fluffier. As if to invite touch. That's what my skin feels like this morning (at least, in my head it does). I feel like I could purr.

Last Night
set alarm to get up to watch Live at the Basement
dragged self from bed with blanket and pillow
made a nest on the floor of lounge
cats drifted behind
like debris caught in wake of boat
and settled
once becalmed
in crook of knee
and bend of body
kitten draped across abdomen
as is her want
a cosy purring puddle of fur and blankets
with sleepy eyes
peering from under tousled hair
at favourite band on telly
loathe alternate version of OCH
but have visions of 1920's dance floor on cruise ship
as if a bbc production of an agartha christie novel
as is played out before horrified ears
Stranger Strange magnificant
The Slant heartbreakingly lovely
sigh
if only cats hadn't decided to trash the flat
with early morning acrobatic chasing games
between 4:30 and 6:30
it might nearly have been the perfect night

G'Morning
the kitten burrowed under the blankets and stetched out against my leg for most of the night. nice to know my dough-like flabby thighs are good for something, even if it is just as a substitute hot water bottle for a kitten. she woke early and playful and savaged my big toe sometime before dawn and has since ripped down a set of curtains in swift intransient from one room t'other
had to hastily wrap sheet round naked body and dash out into the yard to see off the ginger cat from down the road who was menancing my sissy-Michael cat in the yard of the deserted house next door
:D nice to have things back to normal :D
